The Neuro Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for standards in patient care and clinical standards for the neuro patient population to include: assist within the NP scope of practice with comprehensive patient history & physicals and discharge planning: when necessary, provide hospital rounds regarding patients followed by neuro physicians per physician collaborative agreement; collaborates with physicians to develop protocols to enhance patient outcomes; monitors neuro patient outcomes; assists with clinical problem solving; taking hospital call one weekend per month. Assist with quality improvement aspects of high-risk and high-volume patient care; exhibits knowledge of patient rights for all age groups; and serves as resource in clinical matters. Facilitates planning and coordination of medical management, inclusive but not limited to ordering of screening exams and testing. Provide follow up assessments and recommendations. Replying to and returning patient phone calls. Completion of APS forms, disability claims, etc. Provide phone consultation/collaboration with physician or other care team member. Refill authorizations from pharmacies, or per patient request.
The leadership role of the Practitioner includes patient and family needs and expectations; utilization of group dynamics to affect positive change; and provides a strong image as a role model.
Job Requirements:
EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
A. Current registered nurse licensure in the State of Louisiana
B. Current licensure and national certification in specialty area as required by the State of Louisiana of LAC 46:XLVII3705 and 3707 Advanced Practitioner of Nursing Primary Nurse Associate
C. Two years of clinical Neurology nursing experience
